Rowland J. McGuillicuddy

Rowland J. McGuillicuddy is the frog character that Rally's puppet body was modeled after. He was created as a buffoonish, cocksure-but-half-cocked companion to the show's main character. He was also an alternate persona of Raymond Waites, the original creator of the whole franchise and the original identity of Rally

Description

Rowland is a tall chartreuse green frog, standing upright with beady eyes set high on his head, floating eyebrows, a large mouth, wide shoulders, thin hips and spindly legs. He usually wears slacks and a straw boater hat. He wears a detached collar, similar to early Hannah-Barbera cartoon characters.

Personality

Rowland is extremely arrogant. While he tends to keep out of other's business most of the time, he often finds things he considers to be a major injustice, uncouth, or that just irritate his sensibilities. In his skewed perception, this necessitates him becoming involved in the other people's business until it's resolved to his satisfaction. He has an odd sense of propriety that he feels the need to impose on others, often to his extreme misfortune and dismay.

His interactions with other characters usually end badly for him.

History

Rowland's cartoons are still popular to the current day, and he's a quite famous character, with merchandise still being produced in some corners of the multiverse. Since the original copyright has long expired, they can be freely reproduced by anyone. They are disfavored in most of The Greater Empire, not supporting their propaganda goals, but are still often shown to children just as a diversion, along with other ancient classics.

Relationship to his creator

Raymond always considered Rowland to be something of an alter-ego, even performing the voice of the character himself. He realized years later that he had placed all of his worst qualities-- his arrogance, his mania etc.
